Gallery Exhibition 'Old Tone Canal Exhibition'

In commemoration of the 135th anniversary of the water supply of the Tone Canal, maps recreating the old Tone Canal and historic photos of the old Tone Canal from the Nagareyama City Museum are displayed. You can see valuable photos from the time when water transport flourished, such as the steamer 'Choshimaru' navigating the Tone Canal and photos from Morita Orchard. Additionally, letters addressed to Yamagata Aritomo (the Prime Minister at the time of completion) that serve as the basis for why the completion ceremony was held on June 18 are also displayed (replica).
