Temples and Parishioners in the Edo Period

Understanding the Edo Shogunate and its temples, and the relationship between temples and parishioners
How did temples exist within the community during the Edo period? What was the actual relationship between temples and their parishioners during that time? In this course, we will delve into historical documents, including Edo period laws, "false laws," and documents that reveal the reality of local temples, while also interpreting them to explain the situations that served as the premise for the current relationship between temples and people.
