Ukiyo-e depicts numerous stars and idols of the time, such as the courtesans of Yoshiwara and popular geisha from various parts of Edo. Ukiyo-e served as fashion magazines, gravure, and modern media. The women portrayed in ukiyo-e were idols that captivated men of the era and represented the ideals admired by women in society. This exhibition showcases beautiful women paintings by Kitagawa Utamaro, Keisai Eisen, and others, exploring the changing aesthetic values over time while tracing the trends of each era.
