Tsutaya Juzaburo: The People Who Built the Golden Age of Ukiyo-e

In the latter half of the 18th century, many talented painters were active in various styles. Among them, the period from Tenmei (1781–89) to Kansei (1789–1801) lasted about 20 years and later came to be known as the "Golden Age of Ukiyo-e." You can appreciate Ukiyo-e by not only Utamaro and Sharaku but also other painters active during this period. The charm of Ukiyo-e and Echizen Washi will be rediscovered through works from Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints, which continues to inherit the techniques of that time. ■Notes Supported by Fukui Shimbun.

Admission is until 30 minutes before closing. Closed on Mondays (if Monday is a public holiday, it will be open, and the following weekday will be closed).
