24th Yayoi Fire Festival

Festival that guides people to happiness
A festival that intertwines the long history of Hongucho with modern sensibilities, guiding people to happiness. A procession of about 50 people moves towards Daishaibara, carrying the palanquin's flame "Divine Fire" and advancing through the welcoming fire of approximately 250 wax candles along the procession path. During the Daishaibara Shinto ceremony, women place the wax candles they hold around the "Flame Mikoshi" and perform the ritual in front of the shrine. The local wadaiko group "Okugunma Wadaiko" will perform, and fireworks soaring to the 'heavens' of Kumano will decorate the finale of the fire festival.
