A splendid competition between Fukuyama Castle and cherry blossoms
Fukuyama Castle was built by Katsunari Mizuno, a cousin of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who became the lord of Bingo’s 100,000 koku. Both Fushimi Yagura and Sujitetsu Gomon are designated important cultural properties. In August 2022, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of its construction, "Reiwa's Great Construction" was conducted to restore its exterior. In spring, cherry blossoms, mainly Somei Yoshino, bloom beautifully, attracting many visitors each year who come to enjoy Hanami.
