Hiroshima Three Major Festivals Sumiyoshi-san

Enjoy Kagura, fireworks, and food stalls!
The summer festival of Sumiyoshi Shrine, a designated festival among Hiroshima's three major festivals, is fondly called 'Sumiyoshi-san'. It serves as a sacred event known as 'Natsu Goshi Oharai Shinji', which purifies the heart from the accumulated impurities of daily life, allows one to return to a state of purity, and revitalizes both mind and body. In addition to the ceremonial passing through a giant wisteria ring and the floating of dolls, traditional boat events, kagura performances, and fireworks can be enjoyed. The summer-exclusive 'Omamori with Hiyashi Ame,' a local specialty, is also popular. Numerous food stalls will be set up. Bring the whole family for worship.
