The 100-year-old wisteria blooms beautifully and droops
The wisteria at Tokoji is an ancient tree that originates from the wisteria at Gyoouji, associated with the Noh play 'Kumano'. The wisteria tree, approximately 100 years old, spans 20 m square, and during the season, flower clusters of up to 1 m long bloom and droop with a sweet fragrance. From the Tomei Expressway 'Yoshida' IC, take National Route 150, approximately 8.5 km (about 20 minutes).
From JR Shizuoka Station, take the Shizutetsu Bus Express Shizuoka-Sagara Line for about 45 minutes, get off at 'Shirahama Beach Entrance' bus stop, and walk 8 minutes.
