The 85th screening by the Yokohama Kinema Club features the 1st place film of the 1956 Kinema Junpo Best Ten, 'Darkness at Noon.' Directed by Masaru Imai, it is a social drama inspired by the actual false accusation incident known as the 'Hakkai Incident,' portraying the dark aspects of society through realism. It compellingly depicts police violence during interrogations, the struggles of those suffering from false accusations, and courtroom battles. The screenplay is by Shinobu Hashimoto, known for 'Rashomon' and 'Seven Samurai,' with music by Akira Ifukube, composer of 'Godzilla.'
