Kurume Nagashi Toro

Remembering the deceased, warm lights flicker on the river surface
Flowing lanterns into the Chikugo River in memory of the deceased from days gone by. Anyone can participate, and write the names of the deceased and themselves, along with messages to family members who have passed, on lanterns that use four colors on four sides. On the day of the event, about 3,000 lanterns will be released, creating a very magical sight as they sway gently down the Chikugo River. *From July 1st, pre-assembled lanterns can be purchased at the Umeien of Bairin Temple (sales will also be available at the river bank tent from the afternoon on the day of the event). ■Notes The Umeien, where the lanterns can be purchased in advance, has irregular holidays, so please confirm in advance.
