Daibondo Hikiyama Matsuri

A work of art that walked alongside the history of the Shogawa
It is said that the festival was established around the 5th year of the Meiji era (1872). During the day, it transforms into a beautiful Hanagasa, adorned with flower umbrellas, and at night, it changes into an elegant Chochin-yama, creating a stunning display as it travels through the streets. The sight of the four Daibondo bridges crossing the Shogawa River together is truly spectacular—unique to Daibondo. While it shares the same structure as the Hikiyama of Shinminato and Takaoka Mikuriyama, the Bikan-kubi district's Hanayakasa is quite rare with its two wheels, with only Takaoka's No. 2 town and this Hanayakasa existing in the prefecture.
