20th Anniversary of Takeda City Administration & 5th Anniversary of the Museum Special Exhibition 'I Am a Person of the Mountains - The World That Literati Yearned For'

In the 10th year of Bunka (1813), Takemura Takeda authored the modern painting theory 'Sanchū Ninjō Zetsu'. In the preface, Takeda states, "I am a person of the mountains (われはさんちゅうのひとなり)" expressing his state of mind detached from the secular world. With such feelings, Takeda poetically expressed an ideal world away from the mundane within landscape paintings. This exhibition showcases important cultural properties painted by Takeda depicting his ideal world, returning them to his birthplace, along with approximately 30 diverse works by painters of Southern painting who followed Takeda.
