20th Anniversary of Takeda City Establishment & 5th Anniversary of Opening Special Exhibition 'I Am a Person from the Mountains - The World Adored by Literati'

In the 10th year of Bunka (1813), Tanomura Takeda authored the Japanese early modern painting theory "Sanchū Nin Jōsetsu." In its preface, Takeda stated, "I am a person from the mountains (われ は さんちゅう の ひと なり)," expressing a state of mind detached from the secular world. With such feelings, Takeda poetically expressed an ideal world detached from the mundane in his landscape paintings. This exhibition showcases important cultural properties depicting Takeda's ideal world, returning to his birthplace, alongside approximately 30 diverse works by subsequent Southern school painters.
