The grounds of Nishikanda Shrine cover about 26,506 square meters and feature wisteria over 450 years old (designated as a notable tree by the city), with a trunk diameter of about 1 meter, a trellis area of about 330 square meters, and flower clusters reaching about 1.5 meters, as well as several hundred shrubs of Hirado azalea over 100 years old, which will be at their best around late April. The Wisteria Festival is scheduled to include light-ups and offerings of sacred music. The pilgrimage route to the Okumiya of Mount Hongu is about 6 km and is also comfortable as a hiking course. It is recommended to check in advance about the light-ups and best viewing times.
