Soko's Room 90th Session

The Genealogy of 'Salvation' in US Military-occupied Okinawa

Readin’ Writin’ BOOK STORE

8/14(Thu) 19:00~21:00

A talk commemorating the publication of "Welfare Militarization: The Genealogy of 'Salvation' in US Military-occupied Okinawa". The guest speaker is the author, Asako Masubuchi. By analyzing the 'distortions' that occurred in Okinawa's welfare field due to the prioritization of military logic, as a 'magnetic field' where various dynamics converge, the book re-examines the history of US military governance in Okinawa from the most intimate and bodily dimension of politics regarding life and living. It is hoped that participants will engage in a discussion on these topics.
