Iba no Sakashidashi Festival

Visitors are also in a thrill together
One of the bizarre festivals of Omi, the 'Iba no Sakashidashi Festival'. The young men of the community drag the portable shrine down from the Sampō Sanzan Shrine located on the hillside of Mount Sankō to the large torii gate at the foot. The slope is approximately 500 meters long and features steep cliffs, with several difficult sections along the way. The sight of the portable shrine being lowered amid the young men's heroic shouts makes even the onlookers feel a thrill together, and there are intense moments of danger in the difficult sections.
