The Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction Support Hot Air Balloon Event 'Look Up at the Sky' began in August 2011 in Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture, and has been held a total of 38 times in the three affected prefectures and Tokyo. It is one of the few places in the city center where hot air balloons can be launched, attracting many visitors every year. Since hot air balloon tethered rides are by reservation only, applications must be made through the reservation form on the website. The aviation sports class held at the same time is on a first-come, first-served basis on the day.
