Aomori Nebuta Festival

A summer tradition of Michinoku, Nebuta Festival
One of the three major festivals of Tohoku, the Aomori Nebuta Festival is designated as an important intangible folk cultural asset of the country. Based on kabuki and historical/mythological themes, the 'nebuta', which possesses various expressions such as 'heroic, gorgeous, and poignant', unites with the 'haneto', who are dressed in colorful costumes. On the final day, the Aomori Fireworks Festival is also held, with large nebuta parading in Aomori Port, decorating the finale of the nebuta festival.
