A solitary cherry tree standing in the precincts of Shimamachi Shrine. It was announced as a new species in the spring of 2013. Named after Shimamachi Shrine, this cherry blossom is called 'Shimamachi Kikuzakura.' Its features include deep flower color, an average of 156 petals per flower, which is exceptionally abundant and luxurious, numerous fine notches along the petal edges, and a ball-like blooming style.
