A flower altar is set up in front of the main hall to celebrate (from April 1 to 10). The Buddha's birthday ceremony is called Kanbutsue, but since it is the season when cherry blossoms are in full bloom, it is widely known as 'Hanamatsuri.' Pouring sweet tea over the small birth Buddha placed on the flower altar originates from the legend that when the Buddha was born, nine dragons poured pure water from heaven to create his baptism water. Sweet dew rain.
