Abe Monjyuin First Prayer Ceremony (Shuseikai)

The first prayer service of the New Year held in the main hall
The principal image of worship is Manjushri Bodhisattva, created by the sculptor Kaikei during the Kamakura period. Both the principal image Manjushri Bodhisattva and the four attendant deities are all national treasures. The lotus that Manjushri holds represents compassion and wisdom, and the sword known as the 'sword that dispels evil' is said to ward off demons. Many examinees seeking blessings as well as those wishing for protection from misfortunes, evil, and disasters come to receive the first prayer service.
