Oshigurango

Traditional events of the Kinuura area, which thrived as a fishing town

Kinuura Bay, Kasaoka City

5/25(Sun) 08:30~12:00

The traditional events "Hittaka" and "Oshigurango," which are said to originate from the Genpei War, are held in the Kinuura area of Kasaoka City. "Hittaka" takes place on the night of a Saturday close to the 5th day of the 5th month of the old lunar calendar, and the next day, "Oshigurango" is held in Kinuura Bay, featuring traditional boats competing in rowing. Originally, it served as a venue for fishermen to showcase their rowing skills, but currently, local elementary, middle, and university students participate, primarily organized by a preservation society. The exciting race, where two traditional boats compete, one representing the Genji and the other the Heike for speed, is a must-see! ■Notes Designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Kasaoka City
