42nd Mu-chan Peace Festival

With a prayer for peace
Shortly after the end of the war, a girl named 'Mu-chan' is said to have died alone in an air raid shelter. Following an article about Mu-chan in the newspaper, many people wishing for peace donated funds, leading to the establishment of the 'Mu-chan Peace Statue' in Heiwa City Citizen Park. Since then, Oita City, together with the Peace Festival Executive Committee, has been holding the 'Mu-chan Peace Festival' every year to convey the horrors of war and the importance of peace to the next generation. Activities include the Mu-chan Peace Light, Peace Music Festival, fireworks display, and more.
