Numata Festival

Japan's number one "Tengu Portable Shrine" carried only by women
The Numata Festival, known as "Ogyon" for a long time, attracts over 200,000 visitors each year. Various events take place, including the portable shrine processions from Suga Shrine and Haruna Shrine, a gorgeous parade of floats called "Mando", the joint participation of town portable shrines from various regions of the city, a children's portable shrine procession, and a flowing dance known as "Sen'nin Odori". Notably, the "Tengu Portable Shrine", carried solely by around 300 women with a large tengu mask, is truly impressive.
