Directed by Yoji Yamada and starring Sayuri Yoshinaga, this human drama depicts the relationships of a family living in modern Tokyo's shitamachi. It is the third film in the "Mother" trilogy, following Yamada's "Motherbee" and "Living with Mother," and is adapted from playwright Ai Nagai's play "Hello, Mother".
