Miyazu Lantern Floating Fireworks Festival

About 10,000 lanterns and 3,000 fireworks in stunning display
One of Japan's three major lantern floating festivals, the Miyazu Lantern Floating Fireworks Festival has continued since the Edo period. The spirit boats and about 10,000 red and white chasing lanterns float on the surface of the sea, and there are about 3,000 fireworks that are quite impressive. It is said that the festival began in 1924 when fireworks were launched to celebrate the opening of the National Railways Miyazu Line.
