Kai Katsu-yama Yabusame Festival

Experience the ancient traditional skill right before your eyes
History is ancient, and it is said to have begun when the founder of the Kai Genji, Shinra Saburo Yoshimitsu, celebrated his victory in the Gosan-Nen no Eki (1087) by dedicating it to a shrine. Enjoy the traditional "Takeda-style yabusame" where horse and rider become one. This is a sacred event of the Fuji Omuro Asama Shrine that heralds spring in the Katsu-yama area. It boasts a history of over 900 years and takes place in Shikkogo Park.
