Sakura Festival

A Colorful Spring Era Scroll
It is said that the origin of the Sakura Festival comes from Emperor Hanazono visiting Hirano Shrine to pray for the prosperity of his descendants and conducting an imperial ritual. Every year on April 10th, the Sakura Festival begins at 10:00, with a visit to the tomb of Emperor Hanazono at 11:00, the procession of portable shrines at 12:00, and around 200 participants in the era parade marching through the neighborhoods from 13:00. Various cherry blossom varieties can be enjoyed in the shrine grounds, including Saki (saki), Nezame (nezame), Kochou (kocho), and Arashiyama (arashiyama).
