In Omuta City, which once had the largest coal mine in Japan, a unique culture and art that are characteristic of a coal mining town were born. One of these is the "Coal Dolls" made from coal pitch, which ceased to be made after the closure of the Miike Coal Mine. However, from the "Coal Dolls" that have been created so far, one can feel the vibrant spirit of the former coal town. This time, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the museum in the 7th year of the Reiwa era, we will hold an exhibition focusing on the "Coal Dolls" that transmit the memories of the coal town to the present.
