Komachi Festival
In memory of the Heian poet Ono no Komachi
The poet Ono no Komachi, who left her name in the Rokkasen and Sanjurokkasen, is known as one of the three great beauties of the world. We remember Ono no Komachi in Yuzawa City, believed to be her birthplace. The event features performances by Warabi-za, a procession of local children dressed in Heian period attire, the offering of poems by last year's Komachi girls, this year's Komachi girls reciting Waka poems, a stage performance titled 'Osei no Zu', and a photo session, all packed with content. Enjoy a world that feels like a time slip back to the Heian period.
