Submerged Forest of Akiseki Lake

Submerged Forest of Akiseki Lake

A breathtaking view only seen during the spring thaw

Akiseki Lake

Mid-May~Late May

Akiseki Lake spreads along National Route 341, and in May, snowmelt water is released downstream for use in rice paddies. The submerged forest is visible due to changes in water level. Trees that are usually submerged in cobalt blue water sprout young leaves on the surface, creating a mystical landscape that lasts for about a month until mid-June.
