Raigoji Flame Festival
Wishing upon the flames illuminated in the darkness
Candles with the names of worshippers lined up to form a single character of the year. In the midst of the chanting by the chief priest, visitors clasp their hands as they gaze at the illuminated characters in the darkness of the temple grounds, praying for household safety, prosperous business, and more. The character for this year will be announced on the day!
