The Asakura clan, which ruled Echizen for 5 generations and 103 years. The ruins of their castle town lie buried in Ichijodani, where excavation has been conducted since 1967, designated as a national special historic site, special scenic spot, and important cultural property. In spring, the historical Itozakura, which was also enjoyed by Ashikaga Yoshitaka, blooms beautifully.
