Let's visit the grounds dyed in pale pink and red
Shieon-ji has about 30 cherry trees, including Edohigan cherry, pink, double-pink, white-flowered weeping cherry, and red weeping cherry, with their blooming periods staggered by about a week, allowing for an extended enjoyment. The Edohigan cherry, designated a natural monument of Saitama Prefecture, is said to have been planted by the founder of Shieon-ji, Zen master Kobun-kō, in 1446 (Bun'an 3). It has a height of 15m, a branch spread of over 10m, a trunk circumference of 2.72m, and a root circumference of 4.25m. Night illumination using umbrellas will be held on March 28, March 29, April 4, and April 5.
