Wago no Nenbutsu Odori

Come and feel nostalgic, praying for good health to the rhythm
The Wago area is located in one of the most secluded parts of Anan Town. The houses built on steep slopes and the rice paddies that have been passed down through generations resemble the landscapes found in Japanese folktales. Visitors will surely feel a sense of nostalgia. This festival, which has been handed down for about 300 years, was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset by the country on March 10, 2014. The sight of the hitchiki (pairs of dancers) dancing to the sound of drums and bells exudes a solemn atmosphere.
