42nd Yoichi Matsuri
A representative festival that colors the summer in Ohtawara City
The annual summer festival 'Yoichi Matsuri' in Ohtawara City is held on the main street in the city center. The daytime event features a magnificent procession of warriors in armor, as well as stage presentations by various groups and numerous food stalls. The warrior procession includes the brave samurai Nasu Yoichi in armor, impressive warriors, maidservants, and children dressed as young warriors from local elementary schools, all parading through the streets. In the evening, the Yoichi dance fills the festival venue with beautiful flowing dances.
