Eiheiji Town Large Lantern Floating

The summer tradition of Eiheiji Town, "Eiheiji Town Large Lantern Floating." After the chanting and offering of names by the monks of the head temple Eiheiji and the group of monks, about 10,000 lanterns are floated down the Kuzuryu River, filled with thoughts of memorial for predecessors. The climax features fireworks that herald the end of summer.

Daytime: Eiheiji Town Delicious Food Market, stage events, kids' area, etc. Evening: memorial service and large lantern floating. In case of rain, the memorial service will be held at the Eiheiji Green Village Interaction Center.

500 cars on the west side of the venue, 200 cars at Shihi Elementary School grounds, 400 cars at the Green Village grounds, and 100 cars in the eastern parking lot of the General Green Center.

About 15 minutes on foot from Eiheiji-guchi Station on the Echizen Railway (free shuttle bus available), about 10 minutes on foot from Shihi Station.
