During the peak of the Hina Matsuri in the late Edo period, special hina tools became the object of people's admiration. The small hina tools of Nanasawa-ya in Ueno Ikebukuro, and Musashiya in Asakusa Nakamise, were referred to as "luxury shops". Wedding furnishings for noble families were recreated in palm-sized versions by master craftsmen who had perfected their skills. This exhibition showcases the Yumikokawauchi collection, known for its unparalleled collection of miniature hina tools in Japan, alongside items once owned by the Tanaka family, renowned silk merchants from the late Edo to Meiji era known as "Tenkano Itohei." We hope you fully enjoy the beauty of the small things.
