Kumano Great Fireworks Festival

With a tradition of over 300 years, the origins of the Kumano Great Fireworks Festival are said to begin with simple fireworks launched for the initial spirit memorial service during Obon. The self-exploding three-foot balls and the grand mechanisms of Onihaka Castle are famous, and the sound and vibrations felt on the skin are breathtaking.
