Japan's declining birthrate issue, with the total fertility rate for 2024 expected to be 1.15, marking a record low. Labor shortages are also serious. There are countries experiencing declining birthrates even faster than Japan, one of which is South Korea, where the total fertility rate for 2024 was 0.75. A lecture titled "The Shock of a Birthrate of 0.75: South Korea Becoming an Immigrant Nation" will discuss the background leading to this decline, and how the economy and society have changed.
