Tanabe Festival

One of the largest in the Kinan region! A representative festival of Tanabe
The祭, held at the world heritage site "Toukkeijinja," celebrates its 1600th anniversary in 2019. With a history of over 450 years, it is also known as one of the three major festivals in Kishu. Eight 'okasa' floats, similar to the Gion Matsuri in Kyoto, parade through the town, featuring highlights such as travel site performances, Sumiyahashiri, various float processions, the use of shichi-do-han, and yabusame (mounted archery) over the two-day event, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the town.
