Kinomoto Lion Dance

The dance on the danjiri is breathtaking and worth watching
This ritual performance is held with prayers and gratitude to the gods and is designated as an intangible folk cultural asset of Wakayama Prefecture. The dance performed on the danjiri, about 5 meters above ground, is acted out by a single male lion in sync with the sounds of flutes, drums, and gongs on a stage made of green bamboo. Its intense movements are so powerful that you cannot take your eyes off it.
