During the Edo period, the flourishing of the economy led to the prosperity of merchant culture, and ukiyo-e developed with commoners as its subjects. Tsutaya Shigezaburo brought talented artists like Utamaro and Sharaku to the forefront, marking the golden age of ukiyo-e. This exhibition introduces the charm of Edo merchant culture and ukiyo-e through their nishiki-e and hand-painted bijin-ga. Additionally, during the exhibition period, we will showcase the rare 'Current Dancer Set Ishibashi', which is confirmed to exist as a single piece in the world. ■Notes Please cooperate with measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
