Yagomitani Kannon Chita Betsuin Festival (August)

Make a wish at the spiritually effective Yagomitani Kannon
Kyoto, the famous Yagomitani Kannon, Yoyan Temple. A monthly event and festival held at Shoumyou Temple, which is a Chita Betsuin. On the day, a memorial service is held to read out the names of each individual so that their wishes can be fulfilled. Participants of the service are given a Zuko (incense) protection charm. This charm is infused with fragrance, and can be exchanged for a new one every month. After the service, there is a simple tea gathering. Following the service, in addition to the usual goshuin, those who wish can also receive a whimsical goshuin, where the head priest writes characters at their leisure.
