How about hiking at Mt. Nijo in autumn?
Mt. Nijo consists of two peaks: 517m tall Male Peak and 474m tall Female Peak, and it is mentioned in the Man'yōshū poetry collection. Many hikers visit every year, making it a great hiking course, and from Female Peak, you can get a panoramic view of the Nara Basin and Osaka Plain. The Katsuragi City website provides a downloadable 'Mt. Nijo Illustrated Map' that introduces courses from Katsuragi City, Kashiba City, and Taishi Town, so be sure to use it.
