Yakushi Festival Ueki Market
One of Japan's three major Ueki markets
The "Yakushi Festival Ueki Market" is considered one of Japan's three major Ueki markets, alongside those in Kumamoto City and Osaka City. It is said to have begun when Lord Mogami Yoshimitsu of Yamagata Castle called on residents to restore greenery to the burnt-down castle town after a great fire, and has a history of over 400 years.
