"Hamazen" is a circular base made of the same material as the vessels, created to prevent distortion caused by shrinking during firing in the kiln. While it is essential for producing high-quality Mikawachi-yaki, it serves its purpose only once. To express deep gratitude for this important tool, "Hamazen," and for our predecessors, a donation of "Hamazen" is made during the annual festival held on May 1 at Toro Shrine. During the event period, visitors can enjoy kiln tours and various events with different experiences like painting provided by each kiln.
