Thematic Exhibition 'Various Mountings'

Various mountings appeared across regions during the Edo period. Among them, in domains such as Satsuma, Higo, Owari, and Shonai, there were regional characteristics called 'Gokuni-goshirae', which were in line with each domain's family style, such as a 'preference for practicality' and 'emphasis on usability', as well as the use of tsuba and metal fittings made within each domain. This exhibition introduces the various statuses and positions for which these items were used, alongside Gokuni-goshirae that preserve the distinct characteristics of each region.
