A beautiful temple nestled in the mountains, known for fresh greenery and rhododendrons
Donyama Kannonji is a special temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect located at an elevation of 450m. It delights visitors with its flowers in bloom throughout the seasons, earning the name "Temple of Flowers." In mid-April, the peak bloom shifts from cherry blossoms to rhododendrons, creating beautiful scenery along with the fresh green of the maple trees. During this time, you can enjoy various flowers such as late-blooming double cherry blossoms, azaleas, and wisteria, providing a changing landscape that lasts until early May. There are also many wild birds, allowing you to enjoy a stroll while listening to their songs. Inside the main hall, the atmosphere is solemn, with the sounds of chanting reverberating as many visitors come to worship.
