September 29 can be read as 'come (9) fortune (29)', making it Beckoning Cat Day. The Come-Fuku Beckoning Cat Festival, gathering beckoning cats from all over the country, is held at Okage Yokocho in line with this day. Beckoning cats from various regions gather, and works created by beckoning cat artists based on that year's theme as well as locally characteristic beckoning cats will also appear. There is also a workshop where you can paint on a pure white papier-mâché beckoning cat, allowing the whole family to enjoy.
