The canal flows just north of Keihan Electric Railway's Mitsuidera Station. The water sourced from Lake Biwa appears above ground in Yamashina Ward, Kyoto City, through the Nagatozan Tunnel, and flows again through several tunnels into Keage in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, and then into the Kamo River and Uji River. A renowned cherry blossom spot in Otsu.
